EVENTS
The EHTL is understandably often asked to contribute to large official events. These contributions are an integral part of the school’s educational activities. Moreover, many humanitarian organisations and charities are able to benefit from the EHTL’s professional and tailored infrastructure. Themed evenings or events in support of various causes take place throughout the year.
The prestigious gastronomic events held at the EHTL, such as the VATEL competition and the national selection for the Bocuse d’Or, are proof of the high regard for its professionalism. But the community is also involved in events outside the school grounds, notably during the EXPOGAST international trade show for gastronomy, which takes place every four years in Kirchberg, Luxembourg. EHTL pupils and teachers run and provide service at the Restaurant des Nations created especially for the duration of the show.
The EHTL community also excelled itself when asked to serve at the wedding of HRH the Hereditary Grand Duke to the Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy in 2012.
On top of these many events, the EHTL takes part in the prestigious annual Best Trainee Chef in Europe competition, which is extremely demanding on a technical level.
The Georges Baptiste Cup is one of the few gastronomic competitions specifically for table service. The EHTL is a long-standing and successful participant in the competition, which is open to hotel schools throughout the EU.
