PARENTS' COMMITTEE

A parents’ committee is set up at each lycée. It is responsible for :

  • to represent the parents of the students in dealings with the management and with the committees formed respectively by the teachers and the students;
  • inform parents on all matters relating to education at the school;
  • prepare the positions taken by its representatives on the Board of Education;
  • organize cultural and social activities, and make all proposals concerning the organization of teaching and student work within the school.

The Director meets with the Parents’ Committee whenever requested. In each lycée, the outgoing committee convenes a general meeting of parents of pupils enrolled at the lycée before November 1 of the current school year. If this is not possible, the Director will convene the meeting. The assembly determines the composition and election procedures of the parents’ committee. The committee delegates parent representatives to the Education Council. Each parent of one or more children attending the school has one vote at the general meeting of parents. If only one parent is present, he or she has both votes. The General Meeting determines the composition and election procedures for members of the Parents’ Committee. It appoints the representative and alternate to the Disciplinary Board. The committee delegates parent representatives to the Education Council.
