EHTL Trade Evening and 3rd Award of Excellence

The third edition of the Trade Professionals’ Evening brought together hoteliers, restaurateurs, producers, winegrowers, suppliers, partners and journalists in Diekirch, all of whom have a connection with the EHTL, gastronomy and hospitality.
The event provided an opportunity to thank the various players for their collaboration and support. It was also an opportunity to talk about the recovery of economic activities and the hope of a return to normal after two difficult years due to the pandemic. An exchange with the professionals showed that many of them have vacancies and are looking for qualified and motivated personnel. Through its range of courses, the EHTL effectively prepares pupils and students to enter the job market, both in Luxembourg and elsewhere in the world.
Some graduates have built remarkable careers, following the example of Mr Pascal Forotti, who obtained his CATP Hotelier in 1989 in Diekirch, before continuing his studies in hotel management in Brussels. Since 1995, he has built up a solid experience in hotel operations and luxury hotels abroad (Great Britain, Netherlands, Canada, Costa Rica, United States). Last January, Pascal Forotti was appointed General Manager of the Pendry Washington D.C. – The Wharf, which is scheduled to open at the end of 2022. In presenting him with the Award of Excellence, the EHTL was keen to congratulate its alumnus on his exceptional career and his role as an ambassador for the country abroad.
The evening was also rich in flavours as the guests were invited to a culinary world tour prepared by the students who were proud to demonstrate their know-how: barbecue, pasta, tacos, gyros, pigs’ feet, vegetarian dishes, Norman cheeses… there was something for everyone. As for the desserts, the participants were just as spoiled: Bamkuch, donuts, tiramisu, a trolley of homemade ice creams and, the highlight of the show, a magnificent sweet Eiffel Tower
