Tips

Starting 4th class, choosing a study programme, tests, exercises, work experience… Does it all feel like a lot? To make your year at EHTL a success, read all our tips on the best ways to learn and get off to a stress-free start.

Explore your tools

There are plenty of apps available on your iPad. Use WebUntis to check your timetable and Google Classroom to access most of your courses. Over time, you’ll also receive important information at your email address ending in @school.lu. Sometimes, changing schools can delay your registration, meaning you may not have access to everything straight away. If that happens, ask your new classmates for information in the meantime. You should also let the student office know if you’re having trouble accessing the digital tools. They’ll direct you to the right people for help.

Review your lessons

How can you stay on top of your schoolwork? Here are a few methods that can help: review your lessons at the end of the day — you don’t necessarily need to memorise them — complete your exercises by the deadlines, and before each test, create a short revision sheet to help you remember the key points you’ve learned.

Take part in class

Taking part in class is important: it helps you avoid getting bored and makes learning easier. After all, since you have to be in class anyway, you might as well make the most of it and enjoy the time you spend together! Having fun is absolutely fine as long as you respect the rules set by your teacher. If you don’t, however, you may face the consequences set out in the School Charter.

Try different learning methods

There will certainly be busier periods than others during the school year. You may also feel tired at times, which can make it harder to concentrate. If you no longer know where to start, ask for help so that we can support you, and talk to your class tutor. We’re sure to have some different learning methods that can be adapted to your needs.

Stay one step ahead

Plan ahead and stay as organised as possible! You’ve probably heard that before. Easier said than done? We’re here to support you if you tell us what you’re worried about. Here’s a simple tip: doing your exercises on the day they’re assigned and getting your things ready the night before are great ways to stay better organised.
