Dillon Wines has shown its confidence in us by giving us the opportunity to have a limited edition wine label personalised with the EHTL logo.

Clarendelle, inspired by Haut-Brion, was created by Prince Robert de Luxembourg and named in honour of Mr Clarence Dillon, his great-grandfather, who acquired Château Haut-Brion in 1935.

This red wine does not evoke power, but rather balance and elegance. The character and subtle structure of Clarendelle Bordeaux Rouge are the result of a skilful blend of three traditional grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. By combining the quality and characteristics of each grape variety, the oenologists at Domaine Clarence Dillon, in collaboration with those at Clarence Dillon Wines, have created a wine of complete harmony.

Tasting notes

The wines are very fruity, with aromas of red fruit, blackcurrant and a few floral notes of violet. They combine the tannic power of great vintages with a deliciously velvety texture. The palate is smooth, powerful and generous. Their high level of acidity gives them admirable freshness and perfect, supple balance.

The climate

The rainy winter and spring gave way to a very long dry spell throughout the summer. After a spell of rain in mid-September, which was beneficial for the end of the ripening cycle, the Indian summer set in with a particularly dry October. The cool nights and warm days produced wines that were rich in colour but also fresh and fruity. 2016, a year full of paradoxes for a very fine vintage.
