Road safety awareness
Road safety awareness: a memorable afternoon for pupils
On Wednesday, 12 November 2025, students from DP3RE1, DP3REC1, DP3REI1, DP3RES1, 2TPTO and 2TPHO took part in a road safety awareness activity in collaboration with the Driver Training Centre (CFC). This essential activity aims to remind participants, in a concrete and immersive way, of the importance of responsible behaviour on the road, whether as a driver, passenger or pedestrian.
The afternoon began with an interactive session led by CFC trainers. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, share their experiences, and reflect together on the dangerous situations that young drivers often face. The speakers emphasised the most common causes of accidents: excessive speed, distraction, alcohol, fatigue, and lack of anticipation.
To reinforce the message, several crashed vehicles were displayed in the school courtyard. Faced with these mangled bodies, shattered windscreens and crushed interiors, the pupils became aware of the violence of a collision and the irreversible consequences that a moment’s inattention can have.
The pupils were also able to try out a rollover and crash simulator installed in a specially equipped trailer. This device allows users to experience the importance of seat belts, even at low speeds. Many were surprised by the force of an impact at just 15 km/h, which was also illustrated by a speed measurement system set up outside.
The objective of this activity was clear: to help young people understand that every choice they make behind the wheel counts. The enthusiastic reactions and spontaneous discussions show that the message got through.
The EHTL would like to extend its warmest thanks to the Driver Training Centre for its excellent work and commitment to the students.
Let us continue to promote a culture of road safety together, so that everyone can travel responsibly.
