Houston, we have no problem… just an EHTL team at the top!

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the famous quote “Houston, we have a problem,” our students wrote their own page of history at the NASA HUNCH Culinary Challenge in Houston.

Accompanied by their teachers Aziza Boukha and Patrick Scholzen, Lucas Pereira, Patrizia de Vries, and Bruno Pereira proudly represented EHTL — and Europe! — in the grand finale at the Johnson Space Center, competing against nine American teams.

Their creation? A Chicken Ravioli Stick, specially designed to be enjoyed in zero gravity.
A culinary feat that impressed an exceptional jury made up of 27 experts, including: Luca Parmitano, Italian astronaut; William T. Harris, CEO of Space Center Houston; Emmanuel Chavez, Michelin-starred chef of Tatemó restaurant in Houston; and a representative of the American Culinary Federation (ACF). Leur création ?

Nutrition, innovation, flavor: everything was there.
And the cherry on top of the orbit: a space suitcase signed by the finalists — including EHTL — will be sent into space on an upcoming mission!

This incredible journey left a mark on all participants:

Lucas Pereira shared: “This experience taught us rigor and perseverance.
Patrizia De Vries added: “Despite unexpected challenges, team spirit overcame everything.
Bruno Pereira said: “An unforgettable day, beyond our expectations!
Aziza Boukha proudly stated: “Proud of our students and their professionalism.
Patrick Scholzen enthused: “If an astronaut soon says ‘Mmmh,’ it will be thanks to EHTL!

When innovation meets gastronomy, even the universe is no longer the limit…

Stay tuned for the official results at the end of April!
